I’m convinced about covenantal baptism, but my kid is old enough to understand some of these concepts… how do I approach this issue?
This is a tricky question, and probably should be treated on a case by case basis. However, in general, if your son or daughter is older enough to grasp the basic concepts of Christianity and has not been baptized, they should be included in the decision about baptism. At our church, we often treat these cases as both covenantal (I ask the parents questions about their faith and the church questions about supporting and welcoming the child) and baptistic (I ask the child questions about his/her belief in Jesus).
