The Essentials of Our Faith

The Bible

The foundation for everything we believe is the Bible.  We believe the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit, and because of that, it is the guide and authority for everything in life, including everything we do as a church.  Therefore:

God

We believe in one God, who is the Creator of all, the Controller of all, and the Sustainer of all.  We believe this God is infinitely perfect and exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We believe Jesus Christ is God’s living Word, that he became human flesh through a miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary. We believe Jesus is truly God and truly a man, and that these two natures are united in one Person forever. We believe Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Bible, and that the third day afterward, he arose bodily from the dead.  We believe that 40 days later, he ascended into heaven where he reigns at the right hand of Father God and is our High Priest, our Mediator, and our King.

We believe the Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit to earth to glorify Jesus and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. The Holy Spirit is God, and applies the power of God to our lives by convicting us of sin, drawing us to Jesus the Savior, imparting gifts to us, empowering us to live lives of service, instructing and guiding us into all truth, and sealing us for the day of redemption.

Sin

We believe the original sin of Adam caused all people to be estranged from God and condemned in our sinfulness. Therefore, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace.  God gives his righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and in that way justifies them in his sight.

The Church

We believe the true Church is made up of everyone who through this saving faith in Jesus Christ and the applied power of the Holy Spirit are united together in the Body of Christ.  The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect expression in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity and the sacraments (Communion and Baptism) are administered in their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained.

The End

We believe Jesus Christ will come again to the earth—personally, visibly, and bodily—to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

The Mission

We believe the Lord Jesus commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations.
