Move Memo - The New Campsite
Greetings LCC and Friends,
Our church is on the move! In November 2020, our gracious landlord, Mission Hills Church, informed us that their expanding programs needed the space and time we have been using in the Life Center since 2015. Our last Sunday in this location will be September 26, 2021.
Upon learning the news, the staff and elders immediately began seeking God’s next assignment for LCC. We held a leadership retreat and several meetings to seek as much understanding as we could: God is moving us, but why? Thankfully, the vision for our church’s service in this community continues to come into focus.
Additionally, we engaged a realtor early in 2021 and even entered into initial negotiations to lease a space. That process taught us much. Despite our church’s 25 year history of renting space, this new chapter has (so far) not revealed a turnkey-solution, and the property we wanted needs extensive modification to work for a church. We stepped away from the negotiating table so we could learn what is possible for our small, devoted congregation. Through many of your expressions of generosity as well as the discovery of lending institutions who consider LCC a worthy risk, we now believe purchasing a property is within reach. This week, in fact, we will begin exploring a potential purchase with a new realtor. Please pray!
But that process is slow - we need a place to gather in the meantime. The leadership of Bethany Evangelical Free Church ( 6240 S. Broadway) reached out to me early in our search, offering us plenty of space both for Sunday needs and our operations in their lower level. The Bethany staff has experience sharing their space with other congregations. They are also long-time friends to our church, collaborating with us in many way through the years. Best of all, many LCC kids spent formative years at the preschool operated by Bethany called Busy Bee.
Yesterday, at our August Session Meeting, the Elders of LCC voted unanimously to move into Bethany for 12 months, starting in October. We will begin working on preparing the space ASAP, and we’d love your help.
Though we anticipate good things, Bethany will be a temporary and short-term home for LCC. We will continue diligently pursuing a longer-term location for LCC’s gatherings and operations.

With hope and gratitude,
