Move Memo Week 1
Hello Church! This is the first of our weekly updates about Littleton Chrsitian Church’s search for a new meeting space.
Before we get into the details, let's remember a few important truths:
God has been specifically, constantly, and generously faithful to LCC throughout our existence. No matter what comes of this move, we trust Him!
The word “church” does not mean “building.” Yet we all say “let’s go TO church.” A church is a community of PEOPLE, gathered in the Name of Jesus, and scattered to spread the news.
Buildings are tools that shape the way God’s people gather, who our neighbors are, the number of people we can gather at one time, the learning environment for kids, the way we are perceived by our neighbors, and more. If we make too much of this tool, we sacrifice our ability to give generously to other needs in the community. If we don’t make enough of it, we sacrifice our ability to exist and therefore give generously to needs in the community. It’s a delicate balance requiring wisdom, faith, and courage.
Why is God calling us out at this time? What’s the Vision?
Be Conduits of the Freedom offered in the Gospel
Jesus offers freedom through the Gospel. It is our joyful calling to share these freedoms with others.
Facilitate Community Conversations
We aim to facilitate gatherings to discuss the topics affecting people’s lives in Littleton in order to display the goodness of Jesus’ Way to believers and non-believers alike.
Pursue Relational Discipleship across the Spectrum
People of several generations and backgrounds are growing closer to Jesus and each other through LCC, and we believe this move will allow us to grow even more.
Offer Consistent Hospitality
We intend to offer a warm welcome to passersby, resources for those struggling, and a relational network for neighbors, no matter what’s happening in their lives.
Be Visible to our Community
Littleton has several gospel-proclaiming churches, and we love collaborating with them. Why all this effort to keep another one going? Littleton Christian Church offers a unique perspective of the Gospel and the beautiful Bride of Christ. We believe visibility is a key element in this move.
Next Steps:
This vision in our community has significant cost. God is calling us to fundraise like never before. Our initial searches taught us that we can’t make decisions about locations until we know the resources available.
In Littleton, there are precious few locations that work for a congregation like ours. What’s out there? So far we have investigated 3 (very) different spaces: a storefront in a strip-mall West of Santa Fe, a vacant restaurant on Littleton Blvd, and the lower level of an existing church on Broadway. We continue to search and pray.
Please pray with us: How is God calling you to participate in this effort?
