Move Memo Week 3 - Addictions

Littleton Christian Church is on the move! Here's your weekly word about the move process.

Key Word: Addictions

Through yesterday's sermon, with Mark 7 and Pastor Stephen's help, we explored the concept of addictions. Littleton Christian Church exists to celebrate and apply the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we think one of the foundational ways we "apply the Gospel" is by receiving and sharing the freedom Jesus offers. Freedom from what? Freedom from everything that keeps us from loving God and others fully. The modern word for that is addictions. Every Gospel-committed church is a "sobriety community." We are making that overt.

We believe every genuinely Gospel-committed church is, to use Stephen's words, a "sobriety community," because Jesus gives his people the authority to break chains (see Mark 3 and 6, Luke 4 and 9, and Isaiah 61). Amid preparations for the move we are setting our sites on the pervasive issue of addictions in our community. Let's offer the freedom of Christ to all who suffer bondage through our gatherings and specific ministry efforts! It starts with us - the only way we can be ambassadors of freedom is to be citizens of the Kingdom of the Free. And the only way to truly dwell in Jesus' kingdom is repentance: that is, acknowledging the diverse addictions in our own lives, and rejecting their rule.

What does this have to do with the new space? As we consider such a significant cost to find a new meeting place, the Lord continually brings us back to the concept of freedom from addictions.

Any Specific Updates to Share?

{Would you look at that... there's an elephant in the room! These updates haven't YET provided tangible information. We haven't sent pictures of a potential site nor presented a specific fundraising goal. Even the timeline is in flux. This is the reality we're in for now... HOWEVER, the elders have been led to pray and move toward one particular property on Littleton Blvd. which aligns with the vision he's given us for this community. Join us in prayer about this; it's a God-sized goal. That being said, there are some tangible updates below.}

  1. The timeline for our move is now fluid. Mission Hills Church has graciously removed the August 1 deadline in light of our situation and the market. This is incredibly generous. They have not charged us rent since November, allowing us to save even more to prepare for the move. Thank God for generous friends like this!

  2. In order to be the best guests we can be in the Life Center, Starting May 2nd, Sunday Worship will start at 9:00.

See you at 9:30am this Sunday... and 9:00am on May 2nd!

All questions or comments are welcome. Simply reply to this email or call/text Pastor Mike at 303.550.3234.
